Possible Causes
Faulty Fisher & Paykel SmartDrive motor, Defective rotor position sensor, Loose rotor bolt, Failed motor control circuit on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer and lay it back carefully to access the underside.
- Check for error beeps: Some Fisher & Paykel top loaders use beep codes instead of display errors. Count beeps and consult service data if available.
- Inspect rotor: Remove the central bolt and rotor. Check for stripped splines or damage. Tighten the rotor bolt to spec if loose.
- Inspect RPS sensor: Check the rotor position sensor for cracks or moisture. Reseat the connector.
- Test motor windings: Use a multimeter to verify correct resistance. Replace the SmartDrive motor if windings are faulty.
