Possible Causes
Leaking tub-to-pump hose, Leaking drain pump, Loose or damaged door boot (bellows), Faulty or overfilling water inlet valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer and turn off water supply. Expect standing water inside the cabinet; have towels ready.
- Check for visible leaks: Remove the lower front access panel (or rear panel, depending on model). Look for water trails, rust marks, or pooled water in the base pan.
- Inspect door boot (bellows): Open the door and carefully examine the rubber bellows for tears, holes, or mold-eaten spots. Gently pull back the folds to check the inner side. Replace if damaged.
- Inspect tub-to-pump and drain hoses: Follow the large hose from the tub to the drain pump and from the pump to the drain outlet. Check for cracks, loose clamps, or pinholes. Tighten clamps or replace hoses as needed.
- Check drain pump body: Look for water seeping from the pump housing or shaft. If the pump leaks or shows corrosion, replace the drain pump assembly.
- Verify inlet valve is not overfilling: With the machine empty, turn water back on and watch the tub. If water slowly seeps in with power off, the water inlet valve is stuck open and must be replaced.
- Dry the base and reset: Thoroughly dry the base pan and any leak sensor or float switch. Reassemble, plug in, and run a short cycle to confirm no further leaks and that E13 does not return.
