Washer will not drain or drains very slowly; E21 displayed and cycle stops before spin

Safety first: Unplug the washer. If the tub is full, bail out as much water as possible with a container before opening hoses.

• Access the drain pump: Remove the lower front access panel or rear panel (model dependent). Place a shallow pan and towels under the pump area.
• Clean pump filter and hoses: If your Frigidaire model has a serviceable pump filter, unscrew the cap slowly and allow water to drain. Remove coins, lint, and debris. If no filter, disconnect the tub-to-pump hose and inspect for socks, lint, or foreign objects blocking flow.
• Inspect pump impeller: Look inside the pump inlet for broken fins or obstructions. The impeller should spin freely with slight resistance. If jammed or loose on the shaft, replace the pump.
• Check drain hose and standpipe: Ensure the drain hose is not kinked or pushed too far into the standpipe. Verify the home drain is not clogged by running water from a sink into the same drain and observing flow.
• Test pump electrically: With power still disconnected, remove the pump connectors and test the motor windings with a multimeter for continuity. An open circuit or burnt smell indicates a failed pump.
• Reassemble and test: Refit all hoses with clamps secure, reinstall panels, plug in, and run a drain/spin cycle to confirm proper draining and that E21 is cleared.
