Possible Causes
Loose or corroded wiring at drain pump, Partially shorted drain pump motor, Faulty main control board output to pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before inspecting wiring or components.
- Inspect connectors: Access the drain pump and inspect the electrical connector for corrosion, moisture, or loose fit. Clean contacts and reseat firmly.
- Check wiring harness: Trace the harness from the pump back toward the control board. Look for chafed insulation, pinched wires, or broken conductors. Repair with proper crimp connectors and heat-shrink tubing.
- Test pump resistance: Use a multimeter to measure resistance across the pump terminals. Compare to Frigidaire specifications (typically a few dozen ohms). A very low reading may indicate a partial short; replace the pump.
- Inspect control board: Remove the top panel and open the control board housing. Look for burnt components or discoloration near the pump output circuit.
- Replace suspect component: If wiring is sound and pump tests within spec but E24 persists, replace the main control board. If the pump is out of spec or overheats quickly, replace the drain pump.
- Final test: Reassemble, restore power, and run a drain/spin cycle to verify that the pump runs smoothly and E24 is cleared.
