Possible Causes
Faulty door lock switch assembly, Misaligned door latch, Damaged wiring between door lock and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before working on the door lock or front panel.
- Check door closure: Ensure the door closes firmly and the latch engages fully. Look for bent hinges or obstructions on the door strike.
- Inspect door lock assembly: Remove the front door gasket clamp near the lock area and gently pull back the bellows to access the door lock. Check for cracks or loose mounting screws.
- Test door lock switch: Disconnect the lock assembly and use a multimeter to test the switch contacts according to the wiring diagram. If the "door closed" contact never closes, replace the door lock assembly.
- Check wiring harness: Follow the harness from the door lock to the main control board. Look for pinched or broken wires, especially near the hinge area. Repair any damage.
- Replace door lock assembly: Install a new Frigidaire door lock, secure it with screws, and reattach the bellows and clamp carefully to avoid leaks.
- Test start function: Reassemble, plug in, and start a normal cycle. The door should lock, and E41 should be cleared.
