Washer reports E44; door lock status signal error; may not start or may stop mid-cycle

Safety first: Unplug the washer before accessing the door lock or control board.

• Check door lock connector: Access the door lock by pulling back the door boot. Reseat the electrical connector and inspect for corrosion or bent pins.
• Test lock status switch: With the lock removed, use a multimeter to test the status switch contacts while manually actuating the lock. If the contacts do not change state, replace the door lock assembly.
• Inspect harness: Follow the harness from the lock to the control board, checking for breaks or chafing. Repair any damaged wires.
• Control board check: If the lock and wiring are good but E44 persists, the input circuit on the main control board may be faulty. Replace the board.
• Final verification: Reassemble, restore power, and run a full cycle to ensure the door locks/unlocks correctly and E44 is cleared.
