Possible Causes

Faulty tachometer sensor on motor, Loose tachometer wiring, Failed motor control board reading tach signal

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before working on the motor or electronics.

  • Inspect motor tachometer: Remove the rear panel and locate the tachometer sensor on the back of the drive motor (often integrated). Check that it is firmly attached and not physically damaged.
  • Check tach wiring: Follow the small-gauge wires from the tach sensor to the motor control or main board. Look for loose connectors or damaged insulation.
  • Test tach sensor: With the motor disconnected, use a multimeter set to AC millivolts and spin the motor shaft by hand. You should see a small voltage generated. No output indicates a bad tach sensor, requiring motor replacement.
  • Inspect motor control board: If the tach sensor appears functional, the motor control board may not be processing the signal correctly. Inspect for burnt components and replace the board if necessary.
  • Reassemble and test: After replacing the motor or control, run a spin cycle with an empty drum to verify smooth acceleration and that E52 is cleared.
