Possible Causes
Failed motor control board, Loose harness between main control and motor control, Power supply issue to motor control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before servicing control boards.
- Locate motor control board: On many Frigidaire front-loaders, the motor control board is mounted low in the cabinet or at the rear.
- Inspect wiring: Check the harness between the main control board and motor control board. Reseat connectors and look for corrosion or burnt pins.
- Verify power to motor control: With the washer unplugged, identify the power input wires to the motor control. Plug in and carefully measure voltage (only if you are trained and comfortable working with live circuits). If no power is present, suspect the main control or wiring.
- Replace motor control board: If wiring and power are correct but E53 persists, replace the motor control board with the correct Frigidaire part.
- Test operation: Reassemble, run a wash and spin cycle, and confirm normal motor operation and that E53 is cleared.
