Possible Causes
Worn motor causing overheating, Restricted drum movement, Faulty motor control board, Poor ventilation around motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before inspection.
- Allow motor to cool: If the error occurs after long cycles, let the washer sit for 30–60 minutes and try again. Persistent E55 indicates a deeper issue.
- Check drum movement: Spin the drum by hand to ensure it moves freely. Binding indicates bearing or foreign object issues.
- Inspect motor: Remove the rear panel and inspect the motor for discoloration or burnt odor. Replace the motor if overheating damage is evident.
- Check ventilation: Ensure lint and dust are not packed around the motor and control boards. Clean carefully with a vacuum and brush.
- Replace motor control board if suspect: If the motor appears good but E55 persists, the motor control board may be mismanaging current and heat. Replace it.
- Test with light load: Reassemble and run a short cycle with a small load to confirm normal operation and that E55 is cleared.
