Possible Causes
Shorted motor windings, Shorted wiring harness to chassis, Failing motor control board power stage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer and do not attempt to run it until the short is found.
- Inspect harness for shorts: Trace the motor wiring from the control board to the motor. Look for insulation rubbed through against metal edges. Repair or replace damaged sections.
- Test motor windings: Use a multimeter to check resistance between each motor terminal and the motor frame (ground). Any continuity indicates a short to ground and the motor must be replaced.
- Inspect motor control board: Look for burnt power transistors or traces. Replace the board if damaged.
- Replace failed components: Install a new motor and/or motor control board as indicated by testing.
- Final test: Reassemble and run a spin test with an empty drum to ensure smooth operation and that E57 is cleared.
