Possible Causes
Failed water heater element, Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Loose heater wiring, Faulty main control board heater relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before working on the heater circuit.
- Access heater assembly: Remove the rear panel to locate the heater element mounted in the bottom of the tub.
- Test heater element: Disconnect the heater wires and measure resistance across the terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed element that must be replaced.
- Inspect wiring: Check heater and sensor wiring for burns or loose connections. Repair as needed.
- Test NTC sensor: Measure resistance of the temperature sensor at room temperature and compare to Frigidaire specs. Replace if out of range.
- Check control board relay: If heater and sensor are good, the main control board may not be energizing the heater. Inspect for burnt relay contacts and replace the board if necessary.
- Test hot wash: Reassemble and run a hot wash cycle to confirm proper heating and that E61 is cleared.
