Possible Causes
Open or shorted NTC sensor, Loose sensor connector, Damaged wiring to sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before accessing the sensor.
- Locate NTC sensor: Typically mounted in the heater housing or tub wall near the bottom.
- Test sensor resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to Frigidaire specifications. An open or near-zero reading indicates failure.
- Inspect connector and wiring: Reseat the connector and check for corrosion or broken wires.
- Replace NTC sensor: If readings are out of range, install a new temperature sensor.
- Test hot wash: Reassemble and run a warm or hot cycle to confirm proper temperature control and that E71 is cleared.
