Possible Causes
Clogged inlet screens at water valves, Failed hot or cold water inlet valve, Low household water pressure or closed supply valve, Faulty water level/pressure sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer and turn off both hot and cold water supply valves before working on hoses or valves.
- Check household water supply: Verify both wall faucets are fully open and that other fixtures in the home have normal pressure. If pressure is low, correct plumbing issues first.
- Inspect inlet hoses: Pull the washer forward, shut off water, and disconnect the hot and cold hoses from the rear of the washer. Check for kinks, internal collapse, or debris. Replace any damaged hoses.
- Clean inlet screens: At the washer’s water inlet valve ports, remove and rinse the small metal or plastic screens under running water. Use a soft brush; do not puncture the screens.
- Test fill: Reconnect hoses, turn water back on, plug in the washer, and run a quick wash or rinse cycle. Observe if the tub fills at a normal rate.
- If still failing: The water inlet valve assembly or pressure sensor may be defective. Replacement typically requires removing the top or rear panel, disconnecting wiring and hoses from the valve, and installing a GE-compatible valve assembly. If you are not comfortable with electrical and plumbing work, contact a qualified technician.
