Possible Causes
Broken drive belt (belted models), Failed drive motor, Stripped agitator spline or coupling, Faulty motor control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before accessing the bottom or rear.
- Listen for motor: During wash, listen for motor humming. A humming motor with no movement suggests a jam or failed motor.
- Check belt (if applicable): Remove rear or bottom panel and inspect the drive belt. Replace if broken or badly worn.
- Inspect agitator: On top-load models, try to rotate the agitator by hand. If it spins freely without moving the basket, the coupling or spline may be stripped and need replacement.
- Professional diagnosis: If belt and agitator are intact, the motor or control board may be faulty and should be tested by a technician.
