Possible Causes
Blocked or kinked pressure hose to control, Failed pressure sensor on control board, Loose pressure hose connection at tub or control, Water in pressure hose causing false readings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the washer before opening any panels.
- Reset and observe: Unplug for 5 minutes, plug back in, and run a small load. If E23 reappears, continue.
- Locate pressure hose: Remove the top or rear panel (depending on model). Find the small rubber or plastic hose running from the outer tub to the control/pressure sensor.
- Inspect hose: Check for kinks, pinches, or cracks. Remove the hose from the tub and control and blow through it; it should be clear. If blocked with soap scum or debris, rinse it out and reinstall.
- Check for water in hose: Any standing water in the hose can cause false pressure readings. Drain and dry the hose before reinstalling.
- Inspect connections: Ensure the hose is firmly attached at both ends and that clamps are secure. Check the pressure sensor port on the control for debris.
- Test sensor (if separate module): If your GE model uses a separate pressure switch/sensor, inspect its wiring harness and connector. Replace the sensor if it shows signs of damage or if the error persists after hose cleaning.
When to call a technician: If the hose and sensor are good but E23 persists, the main control board's pressure sensing circuit may be faulty and requires professional diagnosis.
