Possible Causes
Severely unbalanced load, Worn suspension rods or shocks, Faulty balance sensor (if equipped), Loose tub counterweights
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Keep hands clear of moving parts; unplug the washer before internal inspection.
- Redistribute load: Open the washer, redistribute heavy items evenly around the drum, and remove a few items if the load is too large. Run a spin-only cycle.
- Check leveling: Ensure the washer is level front-to-back and side-to-side. Adjust the leveling feet and lock them in place.
- Inspect suspension: For top-loaders, remove the front or side panels and inspect suspension rods and springs for wear or breakage. For front-loaders, inspect shock absorbers for oil leakage or broken mounts.
- Check counterweights: Inspect concrete or plastic counterweights on the tub for cracks or loose mounting bolts. Tighten or replace as needed.
- Balance sensor: If your GE model uses a balance sensor, verify its wiring and mounting. Replace if damaged.
