Possible Causes

Corrupted control firmware, Power surge damage, Internal relay failure, Moisture intrusion on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Unplug the washer before accessing the control board.

  • Hard reset: Unplug the washer for at least 10 minutes. Press and hold the Start/Pause button for 10 seconds while unplugged to help discharge capacitors. Plug back in and test.
  • Check power supply: Verify the outlet provides stable voltage (typically 120 VAC in North America). Avoid using extension cords.
  • Inspect control board: Remove the top or rear panel to access the main control. Look for burn marks, corrosion, or signs of water leaks from the dispenser or hoses.
  • Correct leaks: If you see evidence of water on the control, locate and repair the leak (dispenser hose, inlet valve, etc.) before replacing the board.
  • Replace control board: If E60 persists and the board shows damage or fails GE diagnostic tests, replace it with the correct GE main control board. Transfer any wiring one connector at a time to avoid miswiring.
