Possible Causes
Clogged drain pump filter, Blocked drain hose, Foreign object in pump impeller, Failed drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the washer. Prepare towels and a shallow tray to catch water.
- Clean pump filter: Open the lower service flap on the front of the Gorenje washer. Place a tray under the filter cap. Slowly unscrew the filter to let water drain. Remove and clean the filter of coins, lint, and debris. Check inside the pump cavity for objects.
- Check pump impeller: Gently rotate the impeller with your fingers. It should turn freely with slight resistance. If jammed or loose on the shaft, the pump may need replacement.
- Inspect drain hose: Check the external drain hose for kinks or clogs. Detach from the standpipe or sink and flush with water.
- Test pump operation: After reassembling, run a drain/spin program. Listen for pump noise. If silent or only humming with no water movement, the pump motor is likely defective.
If F4 persists after cleaning and hose checks, replace the drain pump assembly or contact a service technician.
