Possible Causes

Blocked drain pump filter, Clogged drain hose, Foreign object in drain pump impeller, Failed drain pump motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer. Water may spill when opening the filter; keep towels and a shallow tray ready.

  • Access the pump filter: Open the lower front service flap on your Gram washer. Place a tray under the filter cap.
  • Drain residual water: If your model has an emergency drain hose, pull it out and drain into a container. Then slowly unscrew the pump filter cap.
  • Clean the filter: Remove lint, coins, buttons, and other debris from the filter and pump cavity. Check that the pump impeller turns freely by hand.
  • Check the drain hose: Inspect the hose from the pump to the standpipe or sink. Ensure it is not kinked, crushed, or blocked. Detach and flush it with water if necessary.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the filter securely, close the flap, reconnect power, and run a drain or spin program. Listen for the pump running.
  • If pump is silent or just hums: The drain pump motor may be seized or burned out. With power off, access the pump from the bottom or rear, check wiring connections, and replace the pump if the impeller is stiff or the coil is open-circuit.

Warning: Never run the washer with the filter removed. If you smell burning or see leaks from the pump area, stop and call a technician.
