Washer displays E16; door may unlock unexpectedly or not lock at all during cycle selection

Basic steps:

• Power cycle: Turn off and unplug the washer for several minutes, then reconnect and try again. Sometimes clears transient lock errors.
• Inspect door lock: With power off, access the door lock behind the front panel. Check that the connector is fully seated and that wires are not damaged or pulled tight.
• Replace lock if intermittent: If the door sometimes locks and sometimes does not, the lock assembly is likely failing and should be replaced.

Note: If a new lock does not resolve E16, the control board may not be driving the lock correctly and will need professional attention.
