Possible Causes
Blocked drain pump filter, Obstructed drain hose, Faulty drain pump motor, Foreign object in sump hose
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer. Water may spill when opening the filter—have towels and a shallow tray ready.
- 1. Access and clean pump filter: Open the lower front access flap. Place a tray under the filter cap. Slowly unscrew the cap to let water drain. Remove the filter and clear lint, coins, and debris. Check inside the pump housing for obstructions.
- 2. Inspect drain hose: Check the external drain hose for kinks, crushing, or freezing (in cold environments). Detach from the standpipe or sink trap and flush with water to ensure it is clear.
- 3. Check sump hose: From underneath or behind (depending on model), inspect the large black hose from the tub to the pump for blockages such as socks or small garments. Remove the clamp and clear any obstruction.
- 4. Test pump operation: After reassembling, run a drain or spin-only program. Listen for the pump humming. If it is silent or just buzzes and does not move water, the pump motor is likely faulty.
- 5. Replace drain pump: If the pump is noisy, seized, or shows signs of burning, replace the Hoover-compatible drain pump assembly.
- 6. If E03 remains: Wiring to the pump or the main PCB may be defective. Further electrical diagnosis is recommended by a technician.
