Possible Causes
Faulty motor tachometer coil, Worn carbon brushes (on brushed motors), Loose motor connector, Damaged motor wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer and lay it back or remove rear panel for motor access. Avoid sharp edges.
- 1. Check drum movement: Rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly without grinding. Very stiff movement may indicate mechanical issues rather than an electrical fault.
- 2. Inspect motor connections: Remove the rear panel, locate the drive motor, and check the multi-pin connector and tachometer wires at the back of the motor. Reseat any loose plugs.
- 3. Check carbon brushes (if fitted): On many Hoover models with brushed motors, remove the brush holders and inspect brush length. If they are worn below ~1 cm, replace both brushes with Hoover-compatible parts.
- 4. Inspect tachometer coil: At the rear of the motor shaft, check the small round tachometer unit. Ensure it is firmly attached and not cracked. If you have a meter, test its resistance according to Hoover specs.
- 5. Refit and test: After replacing brushes or tachometer, reassemble and run a spin cycle. Listen for smooth acceleration.
- 6. If E06 remains: The motor windings or main PCB motor drive circuit may be faulty. This is a complex repair best handled by a professional.
