Possible Causes

Partially blocked pump, Faulty pump tachometer or feedback (if fitted), Loose pump wiring, PCB misreading pump status

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance and prepare for water spillage when opening the pump filter.

  • 1. Clean pump filter and housing: As with E03, remove and thoroughly clean the pump filter and check for obstructions in the impeller area.
  • 2. Check pump impeller: Ensure the impeller spins freely and is not loose on the shaft. A wobbly or seized impeller indicates pump failure.
  • 3. Inspect wiring: Check the pump connector and wiring harness for corrosion or loose contacts.
  • 4. Replace pump: If the pump is noisy, intermittent, or has a damaged impeller, replace it with a Hoover-compatible drain pump.
  • 5. If E18 persists: The PCB may not be reading pump feedback correctly; professional diagnosis is recommended.
