Possible Causes
Frequent low-temperature washes, Excessive detergent use, Standing water in door seal folds, Blocked drain paths causing stagnation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before cleaning internal parts.
- 1. Clean door seal: Wipe the seal folds with a cloth and hot water mixed with a mild bleach or washing machine cleaner. Remove any visible mould.
- 2. Clean detergent drawer: Remove the drawer and soak in hot water. Scrub away residue and mould. Clean the drawer housing as well.
- 3. Run maintenance wash: Run an empty 90°C cycle with a proprietary washing machine cleaner or a cup of white vinegar (if permitted by Hoover guidelines).
- 4. Improve usage habits: Use the correct amount of HE detergent, run regular hot washes, and leave the door and drawer slightly open between uses to dry.
