Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Indesit washer from the mains and turn off the water supply before any work. Do not work on live circuits.
F01 on Indesit washers usually indicates a short in the motor drive circuit on the main control board.
- Power reset: Unplug the washer for 10–15 minutes, then plug back in and try a short cycle. If F01 returns immediately, continue below.
- Inspect motor connector: Remove the rear panel, locate the drive motor at the bottom of the tub, and check the multi-pin connector for burning, corrosion, or loose pins. Reseat the connector firmly.
- Check wiring harness: Follow the wiring from the motor to the main PCB (usually at the top or side). Look for crushed, rubbed-through, or burnt wires. Repair any damaged sections with proper crimp connectors and insulation.
- Motor test (basic): With the machine unplugged, spin the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly with slight resistance. If it feels rough, grinds, or is seized, the motor or bearings may be damaged and can cause overcurrent.
- Control board inspection: Access the main PCB (behind the control panel or rear side casing). Look for burnt spots, cracked solder joints, or a visibly damaged triac (often near the motor connector). If damage is visible, the PCB should be replaced rather than repaired in-home.
When to stop: If you are not comfortable testing continuity or resistance with a multimeter, or if the PCB shows signs of burning, contact a qualified appliance technician. Operating the washer with a shorted motor circuit can cause further damage or electrical hazards.
