Drum does not turn or only jerks slightly; washer may fill and drain but no proper wash or spin.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power and water before removing any panels.
F02 on Indesit washers points to a problem with the motor speed feedback (tachometer).
- Access the motor: Remove the rear panel. Locate the motor at the bottom of the tub.
- Check tachometer connector: On the rear of the motor is a small sensor (tach coil) with 2 wires. Ensure the connector is fully seated and not corroded or broken.
- Inspect wiring harness: Trace the two tach wires back to the main PCB. Look for breaks, pinched sections, or signs of rubbing on the cabinet. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Basic tach test: With the motor removed and a multimeter set to resistance, measure across the tachometer pins. You should see a small resistance (often 100–200 Ω range; check service data if available). An open circuit (OL) indicates a failed tach coil and the motor assembly should be replaced.
- Control board check: If the tach coil and wiring are good but F02 persists, the fault may be on the PCB tach input circuit. Visual inspection for burnt components or corrosion can help, but PCB replacement is usually required.
Note: Running the washer with a faulty tachometer can cause uncontrolled spinning. If unsure, seek professional service.
