Washer stops mid-cycle, may not heat water; sometimes shows F03 shortly after starting a wash.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the washer and turn off water supply. Heating components can retain heat; allow time to cool.
F03 indicates a problem with water temperature sensing or control.
- Locate the NTC sensor: Remove the rear panel. The NTC sensor is usually mounted in the heater sheath at the bottom of the tub with 2 small wires.
- Check connections: Ensure the NTC plug is firmly connected and free of corrosion or moisture. Dry and clean if necessary.
- Test NTC resistance: Disconnect the NTC and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature (~20°C), many Indesit NTCs read around 20 kΩ (check service data if available). A reading of 0 Ω (short) or OL (open) indicates a faulty sensor that should be replaced.
- Inspect heater element: While at the heater, check the main heater terminals for signs of burning or limescale buildup. Measure resistance (typically 20–30 Ω). An open circuit means the heater is faulty.
- Check wiring to PCB: Follow the NTC and heater wires to the control board. Repair any damaged connectors or insulation.
If F03 persists after replacing a faulty NTC or heater and verifying wiring, the main control board may have a defective temperature circuit and will likely need replacement by a technician.
