Washer may fill and start but stops with F08; sometimes associated with heater or water level issues.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power and water. Avoid touching PCB tracks with bare hands.
F08 often indicates the control detects an inconsistency between water level and heater status.
- Check pressure system: Inspect and clean the pressure hose and chamber as described for F04. Ensure the pressure switch clicks when gently pressurized.
- Verify heater wiring: Confirm heater connections are secure and not shorted to chassis. Check for signs of arcing or melting at the terminals.
- Test heater element: Measure resistance and insulation to earth. A heater leaking to earth can cause F08. Use a megohmmeter if available; otherwise, visually inspect for cracks or heavy limescale.
- Inspect PCB: Look for a stuck or welded heater relay on the main board (burnt contacts, discoloration). If found, the PCB should be replaced.
Because F08 involves safety-related circuits, if you cannot clearly identify and correct the fault, arrange for a qualified technician to test the heater and control board properly.
