Possible Causes

Faulty drum position sensor, Broken position sensor wiring, Mechanical obstruction preventing drum rotation, Main PCB input fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power. Avoid placing hands inside the drum while power is connected.

F16 is specific to certain Indesit top-loaders with drum position control.

  • Check for obstructions: Open the lid and ensure no laundry is trapped between drum and tub. Gently rotate the drum by hand; it should move freely.
  • Inspect sensor: Locate the drum position sensor (often near the drum pulley or side of the tub) and check its connector and wiring.
  • Reseat connectors: Reseat the sensor plug and the corresponding connector on the PCB.

If the sensor and wiring appear intact but F16 persists, the sensor or PCB may need replacement. This is typically a job for a technician.
