Possible Causes
Faulty door lock mechanism, Control board not sending unlock signal, Water still detected in drum, Broken door handle or catch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power. Do not force the door open with excessive strength; you may damage the cabinet or glass.
- Wait and power reset: Allow 2–5 minutes after cycle end for the lock to release. Then unplug for 5 minutes and reconnect to see if the lock resets.
- Check for water: If water remains in the drum, drain via the pump filter or emergency drain hose. The door will not unlock if the machine thinks it is full of water.
- Manual release: Many Indesit models have a manual door release tab near the pump filter or behind the lower front panel. Pull the tab gently to release the lock.
- Inspect lock and handle: Once open, check the door catch and handle for damage. Access the lock from behind the front panel and test/replace the door lock assembly if it sticks mechanically or electrically.
