Possible Causes
Clogged drain pump filter, Blocked drain hose, Foreign object in drain pump impeller, Failed drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the IPSO washer. Water may spill when opening the pump filter; have towels and a shallow pan ready.
Steps to check and correct:
- Inspect the drain hose: Ensure the hose is not kinked, crushed, or frozen. Check that the standpipe or floor drain is not blocked.
- Clean the pump filter: Access the drain pump service door (front lower panel on many IPSO models). Slowly unscrew the pump filter cap and allow water to drain into a pan. Remove lint, coins, and debris from the filter and pump cavity.
- Check the impeller: With the filter removed, reach into the pump housing and gently spin the impeller. It should turn freely without grinding or wobbling.
- Test the pump electrically: Remove the front or rear panel to access the drain pump. Use a multimeter to measure coil resistance. An open circuit or very low resistance indicates a failed pump motor.
- Inspect wiring: Confirm the pump connector is secure and that no wires are burnt or broken.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the filter, close the access panel, reconnect power, and run a drain/spin cycle. If E03 persists and the pump does not run or hum, replace the drain pump assembly.
