Possible Causes
Open or shorted heating element, Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Burnt wiring to heater, Faulty heater relay on main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the IPSO washer and ensure the tub is cool before working near the heater.
Steps to check and correct:
- Access the heater: Remove the rear panel (or front panel on some IPSO models) to locate the heating element mounted in the bottom of the tub.
- Test the element: Disconnect the heater terminals and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to IPSO specifications (typically 20–30 Ω for many elements). Infinite resistance indicates an open element; near 0 Ω indicates a short.
- Inspect for leaks: Look for signs of water leakage or burn marks around the heater gasket, which can damage the element and wiring.
- Check the NTC sensor: Locate the temperature sensor (often mounted in or near the heater bracket). Measure its resistance at room temperature and compare to the service chart. A sensor reading far out of range must be replaced.
- Inspect wiring and connectors: Ensure all heater and sensor connectors are tight and free of corrosion or heat damage.
- If heater and sensor test good: The heater relay or triac on the main control board may have failed. This requires board-level diagnosis and is best handled by an IPSO service technician.
