Possible Causes

Worn carbon brushes on motor (if brush motor), Open motor winding, Faulty motor tachometer, Defective motor control module or main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer. Drum and motor components may be sharp; wear cut-resistant gloves.

Steps to check and correct:

  • Check drum movement: Rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly without binding. If seized, suspect bearing or foreign object between tub and drum.
  • Access the motor: Remove the rear panel, take off the drive belt, and inspect the motor mounted under the tub.
  • Inspect brushes (if applicable): On IPSO models with universal motors, remove the carbon brushes and check length. If they are worn below manufacturer minimum, replace both brushes as a set.
  • Test windings and tachometer: Use a multimeter to measure motor winding resistance and tachometer coil resistance according to IPSO service data. Open or shorted readings indicate a bad motor.
  • Check wiring harness: Inspect the harness from motor to control board for chafing, loose connectors, or burn marks.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the belt, panels, and run a spin test. If E06 persists with a known-good motor and wiring, the motor control circuit on the main PCB is likely defective and should be replaced or serviced by a professional.
