Possible Causes
Foreign object trapped between inner drum and outer tub, Seized drum bearings, Overloaded drum causing motor overcurrent, Faulty motor control module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer. Do not force the drum if it is jammed; this can damage the motor and belt.
Steps to check and correct:
- Check for foreign objects: Gently rotate the drum by hand and listen for scraping or grinding. Shine a flashlight through the drum holes to look for bra wires, screws, or other objects lodged between drum and tub.
- Inspect the door seal area: Pull back the door gasket and check for items trapped at the front of the drum.
- Access the heater opening: On many IPSO models, removing the heater from the bottom of the tub allows access to remove trapped objects. Carefully extract any debris with pliers.
- Check bearings: With the belt removed, spin the drum pulley by hand. Roughness, rumbling, or side play indicates failing bearings.
- Assess load size: If the error occurs only with very heavy loads (e.g., large mats), reduce load size and re-test.
- If jam and bearings are resolved: Persistent E08 may indicate a motor control issue, which should be diagnosed by a professional using IPSO test procedures.
