Possible Causes
Open or shorted NTC sensor, Wiring damage between NTC and control, NTC dislodged from heater housing, Faulty main control board analog input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the washer to cool and unplug it before working near the heater or sensor.
Steps to check and correct:
- Locate the NTC: On IPSO washers, the NTC is typically mounted in the heater bracket or in a dedicated well in the tub.
- Inspect mounting: Ensure the sensor is fully inserted and making good thermal contact with the tub or heater housing.
- Measure resistance: Disconnect the NTC and measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare to IPSO's temperature/resistance chart. A reading of near 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates a bad sensor.
- Check wiring: Trace the harness from the NTC to the control board. Repair any damaged insulation or loose connectors.
- Re-test: Replace the NTC if out of spec, then run a warm wash test. If E12 returns with a good sensor and wiring, the control board's sensor input circuit may be defective.
