Possible Causes

Water leak into base pan triggering float switch, Loose hose clamp on tub-to-pump hose, Cracked tub or sump, Faulty leak/float switch

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer and close water supply valves. Be prepared for water in the base of the machine.

Steps to check and correct:

  • Tilt and inspect base: Carefully tilt the washer and remove the lower rear or front panel to inspect the base pan. Look for standing water and the leak/float switch assembly.
  • Dry the base: Sponge or vacuum out all water from the base. Reset the float switch if it is stuck in the up position.
  • Identify leak source: Run a short fill cycle while observing with panels removed. Check the tub-to-pump hose, pump body, heater gasket, door seal, and inlet hoses for drips.
  • Tighten or replace components: Tighten loose clamps, replace cracked hoses, and renew seals or gaskets as needed.
  • Check float switch: Test the float switch with a multimeter for proper open/closed operation when lifted and lowered.
  • Reassemble and test: Once leaks are corrected and the base is dry, clear the error by unplugging for several minutes and run a full cycle to confirm no further leaks.
