Possible Causes
Stuck-on heater relay, Faulty NTC reading low resistance, Incorrect wiring of heater circuit, Main control board failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the washer to cool completely and unplug it before inspection. Hot water and metal parts can cause burns.
Steps to check and correct:
- Verify program selection: Ensure the user is not selecting a high-temperature program unintentionally.
- Test NTC sensor: Measure NTC resistance at room temperature and compare to IPSO chart. A sensor reading too low (simulating high temperature) can cause E17.
- Inspect heater relay: On the main control board, check for a welded heater relay (contacts stuck closed). This usually requires board replacement.
- Check wiring: Confirm that the heater is wired only through the control board and not directly to line voltage due to miswiring after previous repairs.
- Run a cold cycle test: With heater disconnected (for testing only), run a cold cycle. If E17 disappears, the issue is in the heating circuit (heater, NTC, or relay). Restore proper wiring and replace faulty components.
