Possible Causes
Drain hose installed too low causing siphoning, Blocked air trap/air dome, Faulty pressure switch not detecting empty tub, Partially blocked drain pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before adjusting hoses or opening panels.
Steps to check and correct:
- Check drain hose height: Ensure the drain hose is installed at the correct height specified by IPSO (typically 60–100 cm above floor). A hose that is too low can cause continuous siphoning and incorrect level readings.
- Inspect air trap: Locate the air trap/air dome on the side or bottom of the tub where the pressure hose connects. Remove and clean any sludge or detergent buildup.
- Clean pump and filter: Open the pump filter and remove debris. Check the pump impeller for partial blockage.
- Test pressure switch: Verify that the switch correctly detects empty and full levels using a multimeter and gentle air pressure.
- Re-test: After corrections, run a rinse and spin cycle. If E18 persists, replace the pressure switch and recheck installation.
