Possible Causes

Bra wire, nail, screw, or coin trapped between inner drum and outer tub, Damaged drum lifter (baffle), Bent drum perforations

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer. Edges inside the drum can be sharp; wear gloves.

Steps to check and correct:

  • Identify area: Slowly rotate the drum and listen for the point of scraping. Note the approximate position.
  • Inspect through holes: Shine a flashlight through the drum perforations to look for foreign objects.
  • Remove via heater opening: On many IPSO models, removing the heater from the bottom of the tub provides access to the space between drum and tub. Carefully extract objects with long-nose pliers.
  • Check drum lifters: Inspect plastic lifters inside the drum for looseness or damage. Replace if broken.
  • Test rotation: After removal, rotate the drum again to confirm smooth movement.
