Possible Causes
Broken or slipped drive belt, Faulty drive motor, Seized drum bearings, Defective motor control module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before accessing the rear panel and drive components.
Steps to check and correct:
- Check belt: Remove the rear panel and inspect the drive belt between the motor and drum pulley. If broken or off the pulley, replace and ensure correct tension and alignment.
- Spin drum by hand: If the drum is hard to turn, suspect seized bearings or a foreign object jam.
- Test motor: With the belt removed, run a motor test (if diagnostic mode available) or measure motor winding resistance. Replace the motor if windings are open or shorted.
- Inspect motor control: On inverter models, check the inverter module as described in inverter faults.
- Reassemble and test: After replacing belt or motor, run a wash and spin cycle to confirm proper drum rotation.
