Possible Causes

Frequent cold washes, Residual detergent and softener in tub, Door kept closed between cycles, Clogged drain sump trapping water

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer before cleaning internal areas. Use gloves and eye protection when handling cleaning chemicals.

Steps to check and correct:

  • Run a cleaning cycle: Use a washer cleaner or a hot cycle (90°C if allowed by IPSO) with no laundry and an appropriate descaling/cleaning agent.
  • Clean door gasket: Wipe the gasket folds with a cloth and mild detergent, removing visible mold and residue.
  • Clean dispenser drawer: Remove the detergent drawer and scrub away buildup. Clean the housing as well.
  • Inspect sump: Access the pump area and clean any sludge from the sump and pump filter.
  • Prevent recurrence: Leave the door and dispenser slightly open between uses to allow drying, and run periodic hot maintenance cycles.
