Possible Causes

Blocked air dome or pressure hose, failed water level pressure switch, loose pressure hose connection at tub or switch, wiring fault between switch and control

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Disconnect power and drain as much water as possible using the drain filter or a wet/dry vacuum.

Step-by-step checks:

  • Inspect pressure hose: Remove the top panel. Locate the small clear or rubber hose running from the tub/air dome to the pressure switch. Check for kinks, cracks, or disconnections.
  • Clear blockages: Detach the hose from the tub and blow through it toward the tub to clear soap scum or debris. Also blow gently into the switch end; you should hear faint clicks from the pressure switch.
  • Check air dome: At the tub connection, ensure the air dome or nipple is not clogged with detergent residue. Clean it with a small brush or pipe cleaner.
  • Test the switch: With the hose connected, use a multimeter to test continuity across the switch terminals while gently blowing into the hose. The contacts should change state as pressure increases.
  • Inspect wiring: Verify the harness from the pressure switch to the main control is intact and firmly connected.

When to replace: If the hose and air dome are clear but the switch does not click or change continuity, replace the water level pressure switch with the correct KitchenAid part.
