Possible Causes
Clogged drain pump filter, Blocked or kinked drain hose, Foreign object jammed in drain pump, Failed drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer. Water may spill when opening the filter—have towels and a shallow pan ready.
- Access and clean the pump filter: Open the lower service flap on the front of the Little Swan washer. Place a tray under the filter cap, slowly unscrew it, and allow water to drain. Remove lint, coins, and debris from the filter and pump cavity. Reinstall the cap securely.
- Inspect the drain hose: Check the entire length of the drain hose for kinks, crushing, or clogs at the standpipe or sink connection. Straighten or clear as needed. Ensure the hose height is within the manufacturer’s specification to avoid siphoning.
- Check for pump impeller blockage: With the filter removed, use a flashlight to look into the pump housing. Carefully rotate the impeller with a finger or insulated tool; remove any foreign objects (buttons, screws, etc.). The impeller should turn freely.
- Test the drain pump (advanced): Remove the rear or bottom panel to access the drain pump assembly. Disconnect the wiring harness and measure coil resistance with a multimeter. An open circuit or burnt smell indicates a failed pump that must be replaced.
If the washer still shows E2 after cleaning and hose inspection, replacing the drain pump assembly is usually required.
