Possible Causes
Partially clogged pump filter, Foreign object in pump impeller, Drain hose partially blocked, Weak drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer. Prepare for water spillage when opening the filter.
- Clean pump filter thoroughly: Open the lower front access door, place a shallow pan, and slowly remove the filter cap. Clean all lint, hair, and debris. Reach into the pump cavity and feel for obstructions around the impeller.
- Check impeller movement: Gently rotate the impeller. It should move with slight resistance but not be jammed. Remove any trapped objects.
- Flush drain hose: Disconnect the drain hose from the household standpipe and run water through it with a garden hose to confirm it is clear.
- Test pump performance: After reassembly, run a drain/spin cycle with an empty drum. If the pump is noisy, weak, or E21 returns, replace the drain pump assembly.
