Possible Causes

Overloaded drum, Stalled motor due to seized bearings, Faulty inverter (drive) board, Shorted motor windings

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer before accessing the motor or inverter. Heavy components may require two people to handle safely.

  • Reduce load: Open the door and remove some items if the drum is tightly packed. Run a rinse/spin cycle with a smaller load to see if the error clears.
  • Check drum rotation by hand: With the washer unplugged, rotate the drum manually. It should turn smoothly without grinding or binding. Stiff or noisy rotation suggests bearing or foreign-object issues.
  • Inspect motor connections: Remove the rear panel and verify that the motor and inverter board connectors are secure and free of burn marks.
  • Advanced motor test: Disconnect the motor and measure winding resistance between phases. Significant imbalance or a short to ground indicates a bad motor that must be replaced.
  • Inverter board inspection: Look for bulged capacitors, burnt components, or discoloration on the drive (inverter) board. Replace the board if damage is visible or if motor tests good but E6 persists.
