Possible Causes
Blocked drain pump filter, Obstructed drain pump impeller, Clogged drain hose or standpipe, Failed Miele drain pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer. Water may spill when opening the filter; have towels and a shallow tray ready.
- Access the drain filter: Open the lower service flap on the front of the Miele washer. Pull out the emergency drain hose (if fitted), place it in a tray, and drain residual water.
- Clean the pump filter: Unscrew the large pump filter cap slowly. Remove coins, lint, buttons, and debris. Check that the pump impeller turns freely with a finger.
- Inspect the drain hose: Check the rear drain hose for kinks or crushing. Remove from the standpipe or sink trap and flush with water to clear blockages.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the filter cap firmly, push the emergency hose back, close the flap, reconnect power, and run a drain/spin program.
- If F11 persists: The drain pump motor or wiring may be defective. Further diagnosis with a meter is required; replacement of the Miele drain pump assembly is often necessary.
