Possible Causes
Defective Miele door lock assembly, Misaligned door catch, Broken door hook, Wiring fault between lock and control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before working on the door lock.
- Check door closure: Ensure the door is firmly pushed closed until you hear a click. Inspect the plastic door hook for cracks or looseness.
- Inspect the strike and seal: Make sure no laundry or foreign objects are trapped in the door seal preventing full closure.
- Visual check of lock: Remove the front retaining band of the door seal (if accessible) and gently pull the seal back to view the door lock. Look for broken plastic or burnt connectors.
- Test: After reseating connectors (with power off), reassemble and try a cycle. If F16 persists, the door lock assembly usually needs replacement.
