Possible Causes

Failed door lock solenoid, Control not releasing lock, Broken door handle mechanism, Faulty door lock sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch off the machine and unplug it. Do not force the door open.

  • Wait a few minutes: Some Miele models delay unlocking. After 2–5 minutes, try opening again.
  • Use emergency release: Open the lower service flap and pull the emergency door release (usually an orange or yellow tab or cord) to open the door.
  • Inspect lock and handle: Check for a broken handle or latch. If the door opens only with the emergency release, the lock assembly is likely faulty.
  • Do not bypass safety: Never attempt to bypass the lock electrically. Replace the door lock assembly if the fault repeats.
