Possible Causes
Blocked drain pump filter, Obstructed drain pump impeller, Clogged drain hose or standpipe, Failed drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer. Water may spill when opening the filter; keep towels and a shallow tray ready.
- Access pump filter: Open the lower service flap on the front of the Primus washer (or remove the lower front panel). Locate the drain pump filter cap.
- Drain residual water: If equipped, use the emergency drain hose into a tray. Otherwise, slowly loosen the filter cap to let water out gradually.
- Clean the filter: Remove the filter completely and clear coins, lint, buttons, or debris. Check inside the pump housing for obstructions and ensure the impeller spins freely.
- Inspect drain hose: Check the external drain hose for kinks or blockages. Detach from the standpipe or sink trap and flush with water if needed.
- Test pump operation: After reassembling, run a drain/spin cycle. If the pump hums but does not turn, or is silent, the pump motor may be faulty.
- Replace drain pump: With power off, access the pump from the front or bottom. Disconnect wiring, remove hose clamps, and unbolt the pump. Install the new pump, ensuring all seals and clamps are tight to prevent leaks.
