Washer displays F5E1 and will not start; lid will not lock when cycle is started.

Safety First: Unplug the washer before working around the lid lock. Never bypass the lid lock for normal operation.

• Step 1 – Inspect lid strike: Check the plastic strike on the lid that engages the lock. If broken or misaligned, replace or adjust so it lines up with the lock opening.
• Step 2 – Check for obstructions: Ensure no clothing or debris is caught in the lock area preventing the latch from moving.
• Step 3 – Listen for lock operation: Plug in the washer, start a cycle, and listen for a click at the lock. No sound suggests a failed lock or wiring issue.
• Step 4 – Inspect wiring (with power disconnected): Remove the top panel and check the lid lock harness for damage or loose connections at both the lock and control board.

If the strike and wiring are good but the lock does not actuate, replace the lid lock assembly.
